The Conversation
Once I tried to contemplate
how I could an orphan make
till Reason spoke to me.
She obliged to illustrate
the woes of those who dare tempt Fate
and those caught in between.
My burden I could tolerate
but were I to the child’s create
the ancestors agree-
Our souls would both disintegrate
cursed to sow and circulate
their pain eternally.
I committed then to wait
and walk the path they bade me take
with great humility.
Now with new resolve I shake
that which once caused me to break
and so part my own seas.
